Robert Whitley (1950-2021)
Robert was a syndicated wine columnist with 30 years experience writing about wine. His weekly column, "Wine Talk," was carried by Creators Syndicate. He was also a monthly contributor to the Reuters "Vine Talk" column. As President of Wine Cellar Productions Inc., Robert established the Challenge Series of international wine and spirits competitions that includes San Diego Challenge, Winemaker Challenge, Critics Challenge and Sommelier Challenge. Robert was a founding partner and served as publisher of Wine Review Online.com, the internet's most respected source of wine journalism.
Competition Director Rich Cook Rich is a genuine wine competition professional with more than 30 years experience in all facets of competition production. He currently serves as Competition Director of seven major international wine and/or spirits competitions, including San Diego Challenge, Winemaker Challenge, Critics Challenge, Sommelier Challenge, The Toast of the Coast, Monterey, and Distilled San Diego. Rich also contributes weekly wine reviews and other writings to WineReviewOnline.com and serves as editor at SpiritsReviewOnline.comExecutive Director Diane Salisbury Diane is Executive Director of the Challenge Series of wine competitions founded by her late husband, Robert Whitley.
