Marguerite Thomas

Wine and spirits authority Marguerite Thomas is a photojournalist and the travel editor for The Wine News. She also writes a monthly column, “Tastings,” for The Los Angeles Times International Syndicate.

Marguerite has written on a variety of subjects for most of the important American food and wine magazines, including Gourmet, Saveur, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Wine & Spirits, The Wine Enthusiast, Food Arts, Santé, and Travel Holiday. Marguerite is the author of Touring East Coast Wine Country (Countryman, 2003) and Wineries of the Eastern States (Berkshire House Publishers, 1996-2002). She also wrote The Elegant Peasant (Jeremy Tarcher), a cookbook. Since 1996, Marguerite has written the annual updated sections on the “Eastern United States” for Hugh Johnson's Pocket Guide to Wines, and the Eastern U.S. chapter for The Global Encyclopedia of Wine. As a partner in “Two Women Talk Wine,” she conducts and participates in wine tastings and wine education seminars.

Membership in professional organizations include IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals), Les Dames d'Escoffier, the New York Wine Press, the Wine Media Guild, and Women for Winesense.
