Michael Franz is editor and managing partner of Wine Review Online and a columnist for FRANCE magazine. From 1994 until 2005, he served as wine columnist for The Washington Post, before leaving to become editor of Wine Review Online. Michael has conducted more than 900 site visits and tastings at wineries across Western and Eastern Europe, South America, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. He is a contributor to several international wine magazines, instructor for Washington Wine Academy and L'Academie de Cuisine, and consultant to 13 restaurants. Michael judges at national and international wine competitions. He writes about all the world's fine wines, and is an avid student of viticulture and enology as well as the commercial aspects of the international wine trade.
